'Our Family Hobby'

We began collecting Kenyan Sand Boas initially as a way to conquer our fear of snakes. Then we discovered that the whole family enjoyed the care and handling of Kenyans. It has exploded from there. We like this particular breed of snakes because we have a younger family. These East African Sand Boas are smaller, slower than the other breeds of snakes available, easy to care for and relatively new to the US pet trade with new morphs being introduced every year.

Nuclear Albino Project

Here's a project to get excited about!

A few months ago I bred our breeder nuclear kenyan sand boa male to a very nice albino kenyan sand boa adult female I got from Abigail 'Abi' McDufford about a year ago. For those of you who don't know Abi, send her a friend request on facebook, she is the ultimate reptile hobbyist/breeder. Her passion for animals and love for reptiles is only exceeded by her incredible eye for great looking morphs. Anyhow, I was noticing that our albino female is getting quite large 'gravid' and I thought I'd share this project with everyone.

Once the albino female drops, we should have a nice litter of nuclear crosses het for albino. My plan is to grow the entire litter up, maybe sell off a couple to some past clients, but for the most part keep the litter in tact and breed the best male nuclear cross het albino kenyan sand boa to two nuclear cross het anery/albino (snow) females along with a really nice albino kenyan sand boa. I expect to get a couple nuclear albino's from these breedings in about 18 months. I know that sounds like a long time but snake projects take a while to get them going. Having to breed, wait, grow, grow, breed, wait, grow, grow....some projects can take as long as 5 years to prove out. Assuming all the snakes eat properly and you don't slug out (birth of infertile eggs) along the way. Here's a couple pictures Roy 'Father of the Nuclear' Stockwell shared of his Nuclear Albino Project that got us interested in following in his footsteps....

You too can start this project. We have a couple nuclear crosses available on our website, both males and females along with some normal het albinos and anery het albino. We recently had a catastrophic computer failure at the house and the available page is current but we do have more to offer than what is pictured. If you don't see what you want, email me Mark@LHALegal.com and let me know what you'd like and we'll send over some pictures. Check out our availables at http://www.sandboamorphs.com/

We will be at Memphis Repticon this weekend!

We will be back in Memphis for the Repticon Memphis show this weekend October 1st and 2nd! We also are going to bring some of our red foot tortoises with us to sell. We have 17 and we feel like it is just too many for us to manage properly.

I was looking at our records from Memphis a few months ago and we sold a bunch of Males! I'm bringing extra females for everyone to be able to have a pair. Remember they are communal and an adult breeding pair can live in a 10 gallon aquarium their entire lives. We look forward to seeing a bunch of old clients and making new ones this weekend!!!!

For more information go to Repticon.com.

Come out and purchase a sand boa and a red foot!!!!

Great Show in Myrtle Beach put on by Repticon!

We packed up the family last Friday and headed to Myrtle Beach for the Repticon show. Honestly, we looked at it as a nice weekend vacation and hoped to pay some of the bill with some sand boa sales....Well, Repticon did it again, the show was packed with 100's of vendors and tables and 1000's of people came through the door. The show itself was a bit different because all the 'buyers' for the most part had come to Myrtle Beach to have themselves a little weekend getaway and check out the Repticon Show. The city was crawling with Reptile Lovers! And Grey Hounds, which we found out also were having a convention...put that many pet lovers in a city and you know there will be some fun! The show was an absolute success! The weather was great, my kids got sunburned and spent most the days on the beach as Jenn and I watched our full table of Sand Boas disappear! This was absolutely one of our best shows in not only sales but in fun! Repticon Cathy did a great job setting up the traffic flow and the Repticon staff worked some AMAZING deals at the local hotels/resorts. We stayed at the Crown Plaza, right on the beach with like 25 pools for $60 a night!

My only issue is I don't see this show on the 2012 Repticon calendar....everyone who had a great time like us needs to email Repticon and ask them to do it again!!!! I know we'll be the first to sign up!

Vendor Note: Largest Sunday Sales of our History...spoke to many other vendors who said the same.
